The worst illusion was communism. You should really try it if you think democracy is so bad. You'd love to be a democrat "slave" again!
 
Like G_money suggests, there is no better option really despite democracy's so many flaws.

I am really wondering what do we have in Russia now. It is definitely not a democracy yet but it is not commusims any more for sure.  i guess we have Putin'ocrasy now I roll!

Isn't Hong Kong a more or less free market region...? I was talking about centrally planned economy, where you do what you are told to do, no individual initiative. You don't want to say that's better than capitalism, do you?

And to think that this thread was more of a joke, and it turned into this. I roll!
 
I guess that the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. But half of times a Democracy becomes a Democrazy when the main party gets too much power. And the other half it becomes a crap when all parties struggle (or their puppets) among themselves to gain the power. To you
 
After all, they are closer to Republic system rather than to a real Democratic system. When was the last time the rulers asked for the opinion of the people for something before approving it? They basically get reduced to "you choose us, and we do what we think must be done. See you again in four years". We are like the February 29th.

Without lawful mechanisms that let the people over-write, or at least cancel, representative's decisions, People will get just a phantom of democracy, or maybe republic as you mentioned. Without such mechanisms representatives tend to become puppets in the hands of capitalists, criminal gangs and other parties who usually seek an easy access to government.

All I can say is that the way Ukrainians are treated every time they claim their independence cannot be appreciated. Just reminds me of Holodomor and Stalin era. If some Russians in that area really want to be part of Russia, such legitimate appeal must be reviewed in a civilized manner. What's going on there is ruining the reputation of both countries, aside from people who must suffer once again.

This is like this because the rulers want them to be like that.
 
Most of people thinks that they know what is best for them, but don't have knowledges about macroeconomy at all. They are unable to see beyond their own expenses home. They know that life cost has increased, but have no idea about the reasons that led to that at global level.
 
That way it is easy for the rulers to say anything, and their zombies will blindly follow them, without looking for info about the matter first. The ignorance of people is what keeps those parasites at their seats, leeching from the cash their zombies get stripped of.
 
If the average voter had more knowledge about advanced economy, they wouldn't have it so easy to brainwash them.
