First of all, my apologizes in advance if I make this sound bad at some point, or if I nose into something I shouldn't. My words are not my best in these cases.
 
First of all, calm down. I know it's an awful moment, but don't let the anger make you lose your mind, asking for a ban will not make this any better. (This is an extreme case, so I guess just a simple warning would be more than enough.) We all know that even in democracies, the choices of the rulers are not the will of the people. It's never good to consider the rulers as the whole country. I'm sure many Russians are against that invasion, so calm down, insulting Russia (the people, not the rulers) will not improve this either.
 
The boicotts would have larger effect by part of the very own Russian people, (I've never seen a product imported from Russian in Spain, sorry), but that would just harm the producers and workers themselves, who are unlikely to have anything to do with this war. I personally don't know too much about Putin, but if he and the parlament have fully ignored the calls of UK and US to back off, I doub he would care about boicotts in his own land. Boicotts would have more of a symbolic weight, as a sign of disapproval of the invasion, but the best way to punish him is at the votings.
 
Use the Internet, spread the word, but don't lose your mind nor make anything risky. May this conflict get solved in the best way for people.

First of all, I hope, the war won't begin. Now it is not declared. Russian Senate just allowed Putin to use their army on the territory of Ukraine.
 
My thoughts about the situation in Ukraine are very negative, about the both Russia and new Ukrainian government.
 
Nevertheless, I think the game forum is not a place to create similar topics in each section and use rude words and phrases.

But please, let's talk about it in "Free discussion" section only, be polite, try to avoid propaganda, and prove such sentences like "One country has declared a war to another" with official government issues or at least news by competent mass media.

Why would anyone want to stop Putin when he is looking after Russian interests?
Putin may make a lot of mistakes, but he always does what is best for Russia (atleast in his opinion, and he stands by it). Unlike the Western leaders who periodically alter their statements.
You're russian I think Jane, so obviously you know how he runs the country. But as far as their foreign policy is concerned, I think it's spot on.
If you leave Ukraine to the west, they will be just like Libya, Egypt and Syria is right now. Even Yugoslavia.

Maybe, he is going to defend national interests. But I don't trust him and such parliament.
 
Why? Because this government discredited itself too many times. One of the most "shocking" examples: Ramzan Kadyrov. He was on the side of terrorists in Chechnya in their war against Russia, he killed or ordered to kill Russian federal forces, and Putin made him a Hero of Russian Federation and president of Chechnya.
 
Now in Ukraine the people fed up with Yanukovich (who was jailed twice according to criminal laws, theft and violence), and Putin supports his "friends" in Crimea. I don't think, that Russian soldiers must fight and die for these politicians.

I see what you mean, I think what you're trying to say is that this is not Russia's war?
 
I think it's all point of view. I personally agree with his policies, with the exception of his handling in Chechnya. I think Chechnya should be independent.

Ukraine is independent, but it's being treated as a province of the soviet union by Russia right now.
 
At least that's from my point of view.
 

I agree with Jane that there is so much corruption and more to do about doing favors for friends, instead of doing what's right for the people.
Which is one of the reasons why the Ukrainian people protested against Yanukovich.

I don't 'support' the ukranian invasion. But it makes more sense than the Chechen occupation. East Ukraine is demanding Russia to step in, the Navy commander defects to Russia, ofcourse there's smt at stake for Russia here

Why? Chechnya is a part of Russia, territory of Russian federation. While Ukraine is independent state and Crimea is its part.
 
In general, I mean, that ofc Russia has its interests in Ukraine. But Putin should have thought about it before. There are many ways of cooperation, which bring countries and nations closer. Economic and social projects, for example. Instead of this, we can see that during the last 5-10 years the main theme of relations between Russia and Ukraine was gas transportation to EU and prices for gas for Ukraine.

First of all I am glad that we can discuss the Ukrainian crisis in this forum without any censorship. Freedom of speech is more important than virtonimics.
 
I agree with Jane that Putin should not interfere with Ukraine, because it is an independent state. I also think he is making a big mistake. He separates the different population groups and encourages nationalism, anti-russian and pro-russian. I fear most a civil war between these two groups. I hope the Ukrainian leaders will be wiser that the guys who run Yugoslavia in the 90ties.

it seems somewhat fair enough to show muscle and right now it should motivate the Ukrainians to focus on their unity issues rather than being distracted by the presence of russian forces. Personally i was very impressed by Putin to oppose armed interference in Syria. If he would change his approach now he would lose the face gained.
 
The Ukrainian ex-leader failed to unite his people, lost his game and run off like a coward. Supporting a guy like that would be a shame for itself already.

From what I heard (never been to Russia or Ukraine), Crimea is more or less a big vacation place for many Russians and is very Russia-friendly. And it was abandonned to Ukraine after the fall of the USSR for a big part because of a lack of land connection to Russia, but however, a control is maintained by Russia through key people like Ianoukovitch (a bit similar to the Kadyrov case).
 
My impression is that even though the USSR doesn't officially exist anymore, there is still an informal link with many former USSR republics, in a way that's comparable to some extent to the link between former african colonies and European countries. I don't think Putin would give up Ukraine or at least a part of it, and especially not to the European Union. It's a question of principles for him, of respect. He probably doesn't enjoy the expansion of the European Union and the fact that the EU has tried to attract Ukraine has probably been seen as a provocation by Putin.
 
The situation is bad for the Ukrainian people as they are not free to decide and Ukraine is torn apart between these 2 big powers. I think it will either lead to a country invasion by Russia, or Putin will play it more softly, by appointing another Ianoukovitch-like as president.

In my opinion democracy is just an illusion created by the world ruling class as a means of subjugating masses,winning a war against the middle and lower classes witout it ever starting. unless the oppresed rebel then the ones with power show their claws and the true face of "democracy". Thats a meere fact and its visible on many eg. in the last 10-20 years,and troght the human hisstory. no matter what excueses are pressentet or problems simulated it comes down to this: every war is similar to bulying on school playgrounds(the powerful take what they want from the weak without facing earthy consequences) which is just plain wrong. that was of the subject, i think putin is just bluffin to make vast pressure on the rebelius people,who have every right to defend their existence.which cold make a contra effect and push ukraine to EU.Depending how much ukranian goverment he succedes to intimidate. Im not too familiar with the subject this is just my humble semi-ignornt opinion... i find it funny that people actualy belive that citizens chose anything about high politics officials Well

i hate the fact that World is ruled by some group of elite.  their conflict became our disaster.. it always been like that since the beginning of human being. they use "illusion" issue such as Religion, Ethnicity, Nationality, Democracy etc.. at the end it is all about Wealth and Money..
