My assets is 1 billion and my turnover is 82 million. It's increasing gradually but is this a decent t/o? I wanted to turnover 1/10th of my over all assets each update. its a little short but it'll catch up next update. Is this a good goal? If not what SHOULD my turnover be and how can i achieve it.

Thanks all!

Turnover to assets doesn't really mean much.

Physical goods contribute far less to assets than superficial goods. My assets doubled the day I equaled top research level for a couple of goods.

Profit to turnover is more important.

...but if you really want to raise turnover you can put animals to sales pen then buy them again. You'll pay a bit more in taxes and it has no benefit at all, but your turnover will increase.

Intellectual property has a value, hence the increase in asset value when your research level increased.

However the value of intellectual property is in the ability to generate future wealth.

Anybody who has experienced asset write-offs due to intellectual property being written off will understand that this can be painful....

When setting goals, you could consider 'benchmarking' your company against a similar company and trying to improve on that. Any goal that is realistic and measurable can suffice.

I think my turnover/asset ratio is slightly higher but it's never been my goal. I just want to be in top producers for the goods I'm specialising in

So buy my pasta everybody:-)

Thanks for the feedback. My profit right now is roughly 30million? I want to work on it so I can profit 50% or like 43-45%.

I am more concerned about how much of my turnover is profit. Currently I am at about 13% profit off of about 400mil turnover.

Turnover is not representative in the current report format: it includes internal transactions eg. farm to warehouse, so it doesn't mean you actually have to sell anything to the outside to make turnover!

Turnover/asset ratio is also not really representative, especially due to the valuation of technology. Some products just need high investments and have a small return, turnover/asset ratio-wise, it really depends on the type of business.

Another thing - not starting to complain but just looking at the facts - is the lack of players; a few of the remaining players have built very strong businesses with resources and high technology, but there is not enough buyers anymore for the output, so instead of ongoing conversion of investments into turnover, enabling re-investments - we're still making turnover by selling the goods to our warehouses -- but few sales happen and prices keep spiraling down. machinery sold at 120K 30 days is offered for 50 K now ago but stays in the warehouse.

The best way to increase turnover right now is to do your own retailing, and increase prices in the shops.
Undercutting prices by 20-50% just to gain a bit of market share is cutting profits of everyone in the retail business. If everyone increase prices regularly i speculate that we could sell for example meat @ 500 in some cities soon.

A lot of what you say about lack of players can possibly be explained by the competitions. I have slowed my expansion since the comps started to ensure my company makes a profit, otherwise the days sales aren't added to the tally.

Before the comps I was spending 3-400 million on buildings and equipment each day, now it is down to 60-80 million.

I'm looking forward to the few days after the contests end to really spend some cash.

^I love this way of thinking. Retail prices are only limited by the players, so why do we limit them? Always (except competitions maybe) set prices above city average (even just a little), and check your stores often to make sure they remain above the average.

The problem with the players who undercut is the increased market share they get so the more effect they have on prices. Remember it is still possible to have a higher turnover with lower market share. The $ should be more important than the %.

I think I'm sorta safe from all this stuff about all the players leaving. Yeah it really sucks, but I do groceries, and everyone of my products is selling. I also took the advice of creating more stores. It's really working, thanks guys.

Fractal: I've lost more than 50 million sales for ore & wholesale and maybe 100 Million of various supplies since 1 of october as buyers and suppliers went out of business.

Turkbostjan: i'm doing that since a while already, most my retail prices are the highest and i keep increasing.
i noticed  Stack dumped meat @ 40 for 20 days and took down average prices by 50%.
I found you and Megamogul selling various products below the local supplier prices? mostly Garments & electronics.
