I'd be spending at least 10 of these VIRTS each for a coal and an iron mine and produce machines > Q20 (steel and machinery T12). A sawmill never exhausts = endless profit.

Mine thought that was more expensive. You get 20M pieces over how many turns ? Good idear as cost for coal and iron is about $80, what is the prime cost of iron from a mine ?

Thing about a sawmill. I pay 21 points for a mill with producing capacity of 2500 pieces of wood. Can only support one 2500 workplace factory with that. I want to produce the whole department and have to supply about 20 stores can never make that with one sawmill.

Thankx will consider the mines, does it produce sufficient for one or 2 machine factories ?

Yeah sawmills are good. Iron and coal mines too. But only buy the mines when you can secure some HQ machines and licenses beforehand, so as to maximum the output quality since they are not renewable.So-so

Qualification may be more profitable but it can also increase without spending points or billions in game cash. Not true for state enterprises. I'm inclined more towards the renewable resources (sawmills, plantations and farms) but I can also see the benefit of HQ mines/wells. Even just 1 raw material of HQ can make a huge difference to final quality of goods.

Also note that when using mines, you should get some Mining qualification as well (since it's extremely hard/expensive to raise effectively). Low qualification really cripples the output quality due to how low technology level you need to use (and output amount is crippled due to qualification of workers <> amount of workers).

As an example:
-
complexity of mining 4
base quality 4
technology level 8
workers 500 (Q6.98 required, but using Q8 as that's the maximum before minimal safety factory disappers)
-
requires qualification 6, but the result is ~30k Q6.46 ores per turn. I should be able to handle few hundred workers more in that tho. The qualification increase is really pitiful, 0.015.
