If production and commerce qualifications were matched (ie, production quali 20 will produce enough to keep commerce quali 20 fully supplied) then the game might as well be single player.
I am not that sure about that.
Retailing is much more micromanagement, even sometimes outright boring than production, but because retailing and marketing is waaaay overpowered, you have to do it in order to compete. Right now, without retailing you hardly can get into the top50 turnover.
But if production and retailing/marketing would be more balanced, then I am sure a lot of people would choose only production. And of course a lot of would choose only retail.
Right now even the game encourage you to start with retailing, but you very quickly faced with supply issues such as price fluctuations, availabily. So you realise that you need to produce your own goods to have stable supply, but you will soon notice that you cant produce nearly enough. So you go with full production and some retail, because no point to sell something at wholesale level for max 20-25% of retail prices.
IMO almost every big corporations looks more or less the same, as going full production and some retail, while constantly scouring the market for goods.
But if the two field would be more or less balanced and there would be a way to specialise - meaning some kind of bonus - then most people would specialise and so there would be way more trade between companies, and not mostly internal selling. |
