I was just thinking along these lines: what if for every 10 level ups you make (increase in skills), you get awarded 1 game point?
My guesses:
it might incentivise people to pay attention to qualification growth more. This requires much more attention than just running a company. This results in more clicks and more pages viewed (=more money for the sites owners).
Everybody gets access to all parts of the game. This will be a motivation for non-paying players. Now they get the feeling they cannot compete anyway. Now they have no access to decent minerals etc. And from what I understand, their access to gold and diamonds will soon dry up too.
If nothing is done, delinquency rates are set to increase. This might reverse that and even lower those rates.
Even if you don't care about mines, villas, ... you can choose to speed up your qualification growth. Either in general or in a specific area. You might decide to use the points to increase your production skill. Other players might like to open more stores and use it for their commerce skill. I still find it amazing that one company can focus an equal maximum amount of attention to raising pigs, researching mining technologies, producing automobiles and retailing video cameras.
Now, obviously, everybody likes to receive gifts. But that doesn't mean that the result is beneficial. So, what are your critical thoughts? Bear in mind that whatever would ever change would need to be to the advantage of the game's owners. So, if you think this would lower their income, then any change would obviously never happen.
