i have a factory selling sausages. Is there a way to restrict the volume of a single contract?
 
If not, would it be a good idea to do so in the future?

The only option available to you at present is sort of a "gentleman's agreement".
Change your subdivision name to reflect your maximum contract volume and hope people read it. You can also cancel contracts that don't comply.
 
I do think having contract settings would be a good idea, provided people don't go overboard with it.

Yeah.. it's especially funny when your buyer is a huge company with maybe 100 or 1000 times bigger retail turnover than your sausages, and this man (manager of this company) should check your (and other thousands contracts) each turn.
Very funny.
Maybe (and i can tell that it's a big chance) he is trying to fulfill his shops with goods, but such players cancels his contracts tens and hundreds times per turn (because of course he is buying not only from you). Ha-ha-ha, how is this funny!

I am against a contract system like this, as many longer term players would be, mainly for the reasons pectopatop mentioned.
 
What I would like to see is more control over the purchase volumes of contracts from the sellers side, like you mentioned in the first post.

i didnot mean a contract has to be negotiated between two players, nonetheless, the seller should be able to have certain control over what kind of contract he would expect from buyers (such as an upper limit). I admit i expressed myself in a rather peculiar way.  I certainly wouldn't be drafting contracts 247. So i guess we are all on the same page Well
