I have $45 274 686 in the bank right now. Most of my earnings are coming from selling shirts (clothes) to the public. I'm getting a bit bored, and wanting to do more, like open a factory for a different type of product. I don't have the funding for that. How would I improve my current business to earn more each turn?

build a factory that can make those items you sell so that your margins go up.    you should have enough to create a factory and begin with a small number of equipment and employees.     Make sure your efficiency in the stores and factory remains high.
 
you can build a clothing factory to produce shirts for a couple of million including employees and equipment (plus inventory).   Get to the point that this is profitable and slowly expand in either products for your store or products that are in high demand which varies by server.    An alternative to building a factory is that you can go to enterprise market and purchase an existing company which sometimes is cheaper - but not always.

I'd emphatically advise you to open up 3 more stores in different cities). Get your 4 stores to generate you substantial & sustained positive daily cash flows. Of course, Manchester is the best city in the realm to start a store (I'm the mayor :-)). For your next 3 stores, you should do adequate research to see if you can compete...
 
Once you've got enough capital, you can venture into a wide array of activities.

I currently have a small production line in Manchester (600 units) that I could upgrade so I can produce more units and units of better quality. I'll also consider opening more stores in other cities.

I just wanted to say thank you for this advice, JustNash and twboiler1. Since I posted this, I have:
 
1. opened three more stores
2. made a service sector garadge
3. made a car alarm factory to make parts for the garadge
4. realised the factory could be profitable on its own, and shut the garage down
5. become less risk-averse
 
Now I'm making over 1 million of profit per turn on average.

Good Job, Sunshinextreme. What you should do next is to keep growing. Try maintaining an effiency of 100% in office and also your other subdivisions your operating. increase size of factory or store and increase your profit and revenue further.
