IT update from May 21, 2018:
 
Starting from 21 to 22 May recounting, Virtonomics’ mobile communication proceeds to 2.5G!
It will be reflected in two things: in the  revenue of cellular communication enterprises (an increase of 25% is expected) and in the number of minutes of conversation in one megabyte of traffic generated by communication towers.
 
From the moment of IT launch, the "capacity" of the connection (approximately) was in line with the GSM standard (9.6 kbps).
Now it will (approximately) comply with the standard 2.5G with a data transfer rate of 136 kbps.

What is the actual purpose of this update? I seems turnover of the whole IT business on mary has been reduced by 50-95%, depending on the player, and within my setup.
 
Does this require 10 times the previous amount of to fetch the same retail turnover ???

-90% for me, yet I'm higher in the companies ranking for IT...
 
At first glance, it looks like the MB you purchased are now considered to be available minutes... Probably something went wrong there. May we expect confirmation + information on when/if this will be fixed?

I went from top 5 ranking on Lien to so low that I cannot even find me in the rankings.

I really hope this is a mistake. I have by far highest IT qualification and by far highest quality of equipment yet my income dropped over 90 % in one update dropping me to number two in rankings on Lien. I dropped from some 75 billion to 6 billion income in one update!?
 
I can agree that IT sector was designed badly due to exponential growth of bandwith in relation to equipment quality, but it's just ridicolous to make such drastic changes in one update. And this is not the first time it happened in the IT sector.
 
P.S.: Interesting fact: there are just 5 players left in IT sector on Olga realm which is much bigger than Lien. And I am staying just to grow qualification. The market is monopolized by two players which managed to produce higher quality communication equipment. Something that is not possible in any other area of the game no matter how higher qualification or quality you might have.

ok, so this isn't a mistake then? It was intentional??
 
That's cool! This sort of stuff happens in the real business world too, you know. Authorities can implement policy changes that instantly kill 90% of a market. Or new technologies might arrive, rendering your business obsolete.
 
Frustrating as it may be, I'm ok with it.

On a philosophical level, I don't agree. No technology becomes obsolete overnight. Policy changes always give some time to prepare. At least as long as we are speaking about democratic systems.
 
The game administration failed to give a correct information and warn us about possible effect of changes. Their message was read like we can expect 25 % increased revenue without a need to do anything from our side. Don't you think it would be fair to at least mention that traffic will be decreased by more than 10 times!? In general I am really not satisfied how little attention is given to international community with administration focusing on Russian one 99 % of time.  
 
On a practical level I am not so pissed off anymore. I increased price 10-20 times and my income is near what it used to be. I don't need to install 10 times more equipment (very, very, very expensive equipment) for same income, which I was afraid they will expect me to do.

It appears that the main effect has been to decrease the number of customers served by each tower by a factor of 10. This may allow more people to remain viable in some markets as the tower investment for any given city is too high to dominate.
 
If everyone increases their prices by a factor of 10, the net result should be a similar distribution of market share, but with 90% of the city customers not served. This leaves some room for other players to enter markets without completely wiping out the investment made by players who entered the market earlier with lower quality towers. It may take a very large investment in metal to dominate market share.
 
As unpleasant as the shock was, it may be an improvement to the previous situation.

Yes, my bad, I wasn't careful enough when reading, automatically thinking higher transfer rate means more (minutes) sold. I am comforting myself that vast majority of people didn't see that one :-)
