We present a fundamentally new structure of divisions!
 
Updating this block of the game consumed a lot of time, but we hope this work will bring fruits both in game and in purely technical aspects (recounting time).
 
So, the main and most important innovation is that we abandon the clearly fixed sizes of subdivisions, moving to a flexible system of blocks, where the enterprise can theoretically be arbitrarily large, being multiple of the minimum block.
 
Along the way, algorithms of innovations, tenders, technologies, and many other various virtonomics entities were remade. But now in details and in order:
 

Main changes
1. Actually, the most important thing is the re-assembly of the "size" system. Previously, each type of unit in the game had five (less often a little more) fixed "standard sizes," and no other sizes were allowed. In a new system, each unit can consist of an arbitrary number of base units. For example, the base unit for the "Toy Factory" consists of 100 workplaces and 100 machines. Accordingly, the former 1st factory size is 2 blocks; the former 2nd factory size is 5 blocks; the former 3rd factory size is 10 blocks, the former 4th factory size is 20 blocks; The former 5th factory size is 50 units. In this case, naturally, it will be possible to create a plant consisting of an arbitrary number of blocks.
 
2. The exception is to be only Villas, for which the separation into seven standard sizes will remain valid: from Barn to the Palace, with all current policies and PvP maintained;
 
3. The premium assets represented by Agricultural farms, Plantations, Sawmills and Fishing bases will also switch to a new system of sizes, but will retain binding to the "old" size through the prices in game points. That is, as before, only sizes of 100 hectares, 500 hectares, 1,000 hectares, 5000 and 10,000 hectares will be available on the enterprise market and during the stage of enterprise creation. But in nearest future, the farm is to be combined into a single farm of arbitrary size, a multiple of the 100 hectares base value. In addition, we note that the requirements for personnel have been reduced in sawmills: a sawmill in 100 hectares will request not 25 workers, as before, but only 20.
 
4. Dimensions of mines can also be arbitrary, but the possibility of "pooling" the fields in the current implementation is not provided;
 
5. Units can be subdivided into the following types: factories, mills, sawmills, farms, plantations, livestock farms, fishing bases, warehouses, medical centers and power plants. You can unite only the same type of enterprises with the same city of location, not for sale and not being built or expanding. If the system recognizes that there are options for combining the enterprise with some others, the corresponding button will be displayed in the interface. When merged into a basic division, all the major assets of the merged units are consolidated, namely: personnel, equipment and stocks in warehouses. Also, the base enterprise receives a ban on resale, if the ban was already at least on one of the consolidated enterprises. No other characteristics (technology, contracts, etc.) at the merger are preserved, that is, all the settings of the base enterprise remain in effect.
 
6. Costs and terms of construction / upgrade are recalibrated for the new system. We tried to keep the "old" or smaller values, but not everywhere it was possible - if earlier each cost for each "size" was set almost manually, now the formulas and values are unified and simplified. In particular, the cost of construction is untied from the atavistic "level" of the city.
 
7. Opportunity to reduce the size of units (downgrade) has become available. For enterprises of the elite (premium) category in form of farms, plantations, sawmills and fish farms, with a decrease in size, a new subdivision of the corresponding size is to be separated from the initial enterprise. At the same time, a part of the personnel and equipment from the old enterprise will pass to the new enterprise, as well as a ban on resale (if the original enterprise had that one). No other characteristics (technology, stocks in warehouses, contracts, etc.) will not be "inherited" by a new enterprise. For all other types of units, the downgrade will mean the irretrievable demolition of some of the buildings without any compensation.
 
8. We have added a previously unavailable opportunity to change the size of gas stations;
 
9. The sales modules are completely reassembled in stores, gas stations and service companies, adjusted for the fact that the selling or providing service units can be of an arbitrary size. No ideological changes were made if turning to the formulas (although it can be noted that random component was removed from the formula of counting the number of visitors in the store), but there was a transition from discrete values of some coefficients (with five values for each of the "sizes" before) to a wider and smoother modeling range;
   
10. Partially removed were the rigid restrictions that limited in hairdressers and laundries in their dimensions;
   
11. Recalibration of restrictions on the size of enterprises in cities was made in order to maintain the same restrictions, but already in the new dimensions;
   
12. Changed are the requirements for business license (for Nika). One license is now required for the management of one department of up to 100 blocks inclusively (except for special cases: for shops 1 license=1000 blocks, for apiaries 1=5000, for kindergartens 1=150, for mobile operators 1=500, for warehouses 1=500, for fitness centers 1=300);
   
13. Reduced, unified and simplified were payment for the introduction of technology;
   
14. Completely rebuilt was the innovation system. The differences in the effect of innovation have been abolished depending on the size of the enterprise - in the new systeminnovation works identically at any size, only the usage fee that is proportional to the size differs. The exception is to be only Villas, which will have its own set of exclusive innovations for each size. The costs and effects of some innovations have been recalibrated. In particular, the "System of Accounting" was transferred to virtual money, the "Social package for enterprise employees" was abolished, etc. (more details below).
 
15. The requirements for industrial testing in laboratories are recalibrated. Two parameters are set for each level: the required size in the new base blocks and the required size in the workplaces. Accordingly, the minimum of the values (either directly specified size, or the size at which the required number of jobs can be reached) is taken.
 
  Technologies of the level from 6th to 8th require the first size or 500 workplaces;
 
  Technologies of the level from the 9th to the 14th require the 5th size or 1000 workplaces;
 
  Technology level from the 15th to the 19th require a 10th size or 2500 jobs;
 
  Technology level from the 20th to the 25th require a 20th size or 3,500 workplaces;
 
  Technology level from the 26th and above require a 50th size or 5000 jobs.
 
16. In the system of tenders the accounting of new dimensions was added. In most cases, the binding to a particular "old" size of a store or a service enterprise is retained. Accordingly, for example, in the competition of stores with a size of 1000 square meters participation of shops of any other sizes is forbidden, even if they differ only by 100 sq. m. m.
 
17. The system of bills is disabled and so is everything related to them (the decision to recycle the system has not yet been made).
 
Business Boosters
Innovation deservesa particular mention. Here everything is more complicated, since their main meaning is touched upon. In addition, in a number of moments this can significantly affect the game balance. Therefore, the solution is more straightforward:
 
1. ERP-management system - the cost for any size is equal to 3 points, with no maintenance fees;
2. Automated feed system - now for virtual money for any size;
3. Car parking - now for virtual money for any size;
4. Motor show and all similar innovations of store specializations - now for virtual money for any size with a maximum (30%) effect;
5. Veterinary service - now for virtual money for any size;
6. Mining equipment - 1 point for all sizes;
7. Pens for young animals - now for virtual money for any size;
8. Consulting made by the world leader of retail - now for virtual money for any size;
9. Creative department - now for virtual money for any size;
10. Nobel laureate in the state - 1 point for any size;
11. Partnership agreement with an advertising agency - now for virtual money for any size;
12. Manufacturing practice for scientists - the impact on "salary expectations" was removed, for virtual money for any size;
13. Overtime studies - the impact on "salary expectations" is removed, 3 points for all sizes;
14. Accounting system - saving 10%, for virtual money for any size;
15. Quality control system - 1 point for any size, with a maximum (16%) effect;
16. Reclamation system - 1 point for any size;
17. Cooperation with CERN - now for virtual money for any size;
18. Telescopic loaders - for the warehouses for game points, for the stores for virtual money;
19. Fortified millstones - now for virtual money for all sizes;
20. Finnish sawmills - 1 point for any size, with a maximum (15%) effect;
21. Electronic library - now for virtual money for any size.
 
The system has been updated starting April 16, 2018.
 
We ask you to treat possible mistakes with understanding and promptly inform us about them. The really gigantic work has been done and a huge number of game functionals were touched upon. Roughness in the "battle mode" is inevitable ...

Firstly, it is a matter of consistency if all unit types are treated the same. More importantly, for the practical reason: instead of expanding one unit and deleting the others in the same city, units can be merged without losing the equipment
These are absolutely different types of unit, with different structure and principles of work. Functionals of the merging must also be done differently. We have not found sufficient arguments to do this work.

1. There is a speed improvement when hiring more than required amount of workers in the third stage; once required workers reaches 1000, no such improvement is possible.
2. we still need to keep up Top 3, now we can hire 1 Million workers in a single subdivision to do so, but not in the scientific field.
3. Isn't it that having a certain proportion of workers in a city hired as scientists can increase the city's base worker qualifiation?
Mike, merging units is primarily to reduce the number of units and simplify the management. You're talking about changes in balance, for example, about the speed of research. And we talk about convenience.

Over 100 updates have passed since the unit structure was updated. We constantly check the situation and now we decided to make changes to the system of retail units (stores).
 
As practice showed, the actual size of the trading hall affected the sales not very much. But at the same time the service was increased due to the increased area, which gave the advantage to the huge shopping centers, not provided by the model of the retail system.
 
Therefore, we decided to limit the size of the stores to 300,000 sq.m.
The changes come into effect on Thursday, August 2, on all realms at about 15:00 on server time.
Existing stores of larger size will be reduced to the maximum area, excess staff will be dismissed.
