So I just recently increased my factory to level 2... maybe it was premature, but I thought I could make better products. However, now my equipment is operating at 19% efficiency!!! Do I have to buy higher level machines to increase my efficiency back to 100%? also do all my inputs have to be higher to create a higher quality product? or is it more of an average?
 
This is my first foray into production quality increase so any help would be appreciated. Thanks

On factory page under equipment you will see "Required according to the technology" this number also shows up when your on the buying equipment page and on the management repair page. It is an avg or all the machines I believe so I just buy some over rated and cheap low rated machines till I get above the number I suppose you could use a calculator buy I just guesstimate and buy a little at a time and see how that effects the avg then buy low or high accordingly.
 
I have notice when I repair factory's at the same time sometime I end up with say 98% efficiency and then have to go back and remove some machines and rebuy with higher level ones. Probably wouldn't happen if I repaired factories one at a time buy I get lazy sometimes.  
 
also I've only played for a year and this is just what I know, if someone will more experience needs to correct me please feel free.
