I had mixed feelings about it. I saw the Original Star Wars when it came out. I think the original movie remains the best of all of them because it was fresh. George Lucas completely revolutionized special effects with Star Wars.

If you haven't seen the movie, don't read any more, as there are a number of spoilers in my discussion

The Good: The performances were really good. Although, there were some brief appearances by A-list stars -- cough, cough, Daniel Craig -- the cast was a group of new faces who did really well. This movie did pay tribute to the original, but
The Bad: The plot was too similar to Episode 4. It was like a time loop. Instead of Luke's father being Darth Vader, we have Luke's nephew being Darth Vader. It was like Disney was unable to come up with an original idea for plot, so they remixed the old story. The start of the movie moves too fast, You can't get oriented and you don't know who is who. We the audience are not supposed to be complete strangers to what is going on, and we should have had some ideal of the family tree.
More Good: There is enough uncertainty about plot elements to maintain interest for the next episode. Is the heroine Luke's daughter? If so, who is the mother? There was much anger in the battle between the heroine and Hans' son. I think the heroine needs to beware the Dark Side of the force.
I will probably see it again when weather permits (Texas panhandle got walloped with snow), because I want to pay closer attention to the dream/vision sequence the heroine has when touching the light saber.
