Let’s remember the best films depicting the realities (at least form Hollywood perspective Very we!) of business and financial world.  Wall Street, starring Michael Douglas, comes to mind.  What are your personal favourites?

nice topic!

The Wolf of Wall Street, of course :-) A relatively true story serves as an alibi for epic scenes like DiCaprio crawling to his Lambo after taking outdated drugs :-) But the best part from a financial point of view is probably when Matthew McConaughey explains to a young and motivated Jordan Belfort why stock trading is nothing more than show :-)

The Boiler Room: a story similar to the baseline of the Wolf, but less extravagant. Still interesting.

There's also the sequel to Wall Street: Money never sleeps.

"Greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right. Greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures, the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of its forms; greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge, has marked the upward surge of mankind"
(Gordon Gekko in Wall Street)
Although I don't consider myself to be greedy, there are some truths to this philosophy :-D

Margin Call

This is a relatively new movie (2012) which wants to tell us how the 2008 crysis began.
The film try to reconstruct the events of the last day ( and night) of the Lehman brothers, the begining of the financial market crash.
Major roles are stared by Zachary Quinto, Jeremy Irons, Kevin Spacey, Simon Baker, Paul Bettany and Demi Moore.
Every charachter is equally important in the story.
The story starts with a young risk analyst (Zachary Quinto) who accidentally find out that the whole financial market is about to crash......... The story follows how the company's management faces the real situation.
Beside the financial ane business line, the movie provides personal drama between the top managers ( Jeremy Irons, Simon Baker, Kevin Spacey and Demi Moore) and ( a little) philosophical thougths too ( speculative capitalism vs,, builder,, capitalism).
The movie is mainly based on a true story.
I give it 10/10.

I will not spoiler anything..... I think it is a must-see.

(before you start to watch it, I suggest you to google what is ,, volatility,,.)

My favorite is "the rogue trader" with Ewan McGregor

Real story based on the trader's (Nick Leeson) actions which caused the collapse of Barings Bank

From the recent movies - wolf of wall street of course. I watched Margin Call and i liked it, but it has not typical mood (atmosphere) so not that many people appreciated it enought

Also i like suits (tv show) but it is not directly about finance

Nice topic, i'd like to share business/finance related books i v read (and mb these 2 topics can be attached...)
