Is there any formula/ratio or information available that can tell me what x quality of raw materials I need for x quality of the end product I am making?
 
E.g. I am making Cotton fibre in my cotton-cleaning factory (technology level 5/max. product quality 8.10) with raw material (Cotton) quality of 6.65. I would have thought the quality of the raw materials would've been high enough for end product quality to be 8.10, it is currently making products with quality 7.34.

There is a script for calculating product quality. I have it installed, but admittedly I haven't used it yet. Here's the link for it:
