My mine is about to run out of resources, so i need to conduct some geological research. But i noticed that is cheaper to buy a new mine then to conduct geological research.
I know it is more time consuming to train all workers, expand it, but it might be worth half million resources Well
Am i missing something here?

No, it's a good observation. In very few instances it is a good idea to (i.e. less than 5 virts of resources for contest), in most cases it's best to build a new mine and sell off the empty one in the auction before it's depleted.

^ which makes no sense, as one would expect it to be the other way around...

That's why I don't buy mines unless they are on sale, if I'm going to be forced to go threw the downtime and hassle of starting up a new mine (for me usually a few million units more) why should I pay full price?

I did do one geological research however... It was for my only operational gold mine which was not worth the hassle of setting up a new unit. But yes in 99% of cases it's cheaper/easier to open a new one.

sadly, for the first time since 6 years, the annual geological research action was not held this year (yet?).

i agree with that. The only sense it makes is to reduce value from small mines traded at the state property auction market Has bothered

There is always the option to puchase the paid service and let anyone know on city level to recharge their mines.

Dont ask me when this option becomes profitable pointwise. Its complicated to pass along anyways.
