Why do empty buildings (labs, factories, etc) impact office efficiency?
 
I have an office, 10 workers, 2 empty labs yesterday, no problems, office was at 100% effeciency, all equipment with 0% wear at office.
 
Today, 2 new buildings finish constructing, and boom, I am now at 81% efficiency!??   What, my workers are now unable to administer to the needs of 4 buildings, all empty, no workers, no machines?  What am I (virtually) paying them for? lol

simple, you have ghosts working in your units and if you don't click on the send on vacation for them they'll drain your money producing ghost products for their ghost friends. They will rack up your general production costs, if you send them ghosts on vacation each unit will cost 0 per turn Very we!

Naturally, of course, since it would be uncouth for you as business owner to send your workers into a building "unsuspectingly" your only recourse is to post a keep-away sign (in Virto-la-la-land, that's euphemistically referred to as "send on vacation")

So that's how my IRL job is losing money hmmm... Explains alot...
 
In all seriousness tho this "bug" costs many players at times millions a turn... one factory i have not put into vacation mode with 0 employees has cost about 9 million for nothing. Or about 2.1 Mill a turn, which won't kill me on Mary but thats 2.1M+- that should never leave... (Less 83K for one factory)

Utilities (water, electricity, phone, internet) don't come and go whenever you snap your fingers, so you'd need them as well. What about a janitor? (doesn't count as production employee) You probably need security guards as well. If not, 2000 young people might use your empty factory for raves, use overdosises of party drugs and die, leaving you with a need for lawyers. Plenty of reasons why "ghost factories" still have some costs Very we!

We can always use a couple thousand "former" ravers / newly created cadaver supply for our medical partners - kidneys, livers, hearts ain't cheap, ya know! lol
 
Towards that end, we are more than happy to host as many raver parties as might be interested provided they sign the standard liability waivers at the door, of course. (thus obviating the need for expensive lawyers)
 

Why, we'll even provide our 'specially branded "Max-Raver Party Drugs" (talk about your creative BRANDing opportunity!) with the cool-looking glow-in-the-dark skull-and-crossbones logo on the rear of the Max-Raver packaging which pulses in time to the techno-beat!
 
(pay no attention to those stretchers along the walls attended by professional (morgue) attendants, all provided free-of-charge! lol)
