Corp_America is probably not the only player that could use some extra cash. I got a little over-enthusiastic myself today and burnt all my cash in my company in Mary. The cash constraint is slowing down my progress there. Any suggestions are welcome!

The lack of a bank is quite regretful.
I would be interested in "organizing" one.
The main difficulty is that the game makes it very hard to transfer money without transferring goods (maybe more experienced players like turkbostjan could help here).

My idea:

TO GET A LOAN
1. the player who needs cash sells some assets to the bank through the Enterprise market (is cash immediately credited? I hope so...);
2. the player signs a repurchasing agreement, in which he agrees to repurchase his assets from the bank in X weeks;
3. on week X the bank sells the asset back to the player for the original price + interest;
4. eventual profits generated while the asset is owned by the bank will be subtracted from the repurchasing price;
5. eventual losses generated while the asset is owned by the bank will be added to the repurchasing price;

Repurchasing price = Original price * (1 + interest rate) ^ X - profits + losses

TO MAKE A DEPOSIT
1. the player who has more cash than he needs buys some standard good from the bank (grain maybe?) for a very high price;
2. the bank signs a repurchasing agreement, in which it agrees to repurchase the good from the player in X weeks;
3. on week X the bank buys the good back from the player for the original price + interest;
4. holding the good will generate a little cost, but it should be negligible;

Repurchasing price = Original price * (1 + interest rate) ^ X

Obviously, the interest rate on deposits will be much less than on loans...
The method for making deposits is simpler than the one for loaning money, but the player in need would get the loan-money fast (same turn), I think this is important.

Let me know...

this idea is great, but how can you make sure the repurchasing agreement can be implemented?

Thank you very much! Very we!

shirecpa

but how can you make sure the repurchasing agreement can be implemented?

It's a bona fide agreement.
If the borrower doesn't buy back the subdivision(s), there's not much the bank can do.
Obviously the player who breaks the agreement couldn't borrow money again in the future.
And maybe there could be a blacklist published here on the forum.

The Starter Fund has a similar problem, e.g. someone could buy foodstuff from the Fund and sell it directly in shops (which is against the rules). The Starter Fund can't block this, simply in the future the player who broke the rules will get no more goods...

I hope I answered your question ... Well

this is an old subject! It is officially not allowed to advertise lending money in the forum but if a player asks nice by pm i think a player who has enough money may react helpful if,  just like in real life, a bit more information than "wow you are so rich...send me some money... pleeze" is given.

Selling an enterprise, technology or goods to transfer the funds appear to be common methods for such purpose.

Why can't there be just a bank and you get a loan based on percentage of your asset? You pay interest each week, or the bank repossess your assets randomly? This is what simcity does, and its worked out pretty well so far

everything I have seen (even donations) has  had to be funneled through purchases of an item, in one particular case, cash contributions to a fund for newer users on Mary had to purchase either bread or grain (I can't recall which, sorry it was about 60 messages ago).

However, that should make it fairly easy to set up loans based on purchasing a "paper"  or purchasing a "loan"  (treating loan as a tangible product) the trick would be how to allow the buyer and seller to negotiate the terms (to let the market prevail). It might be as simple as setting up an area for loan requests and (first define whether you want to look at it from the buyers or sellers perspective... let's assume seller because they have the product which  is actually capital). So some tab appears for users who have more money than X (I'm too new to know what x should be). And that tab could be loans offered (how many separate loans at one time, the maximum money amount of any particular loan, the maximum of all loans together, the interest rate that must be received).

It might be an organic way to develop banks

But it has to happen in a way for buyers (people wanting loans) and sellers (people wanting to profit from loaning money) to negotiate the terms between them in a marketplace.

just a thought.

I'm  a newbie.

Hi guys and gals.

WOW, to think that a big gun can blow all his cash (whistles), I'm sitting on a pile, mind you, a small pile as compared to you big guns, but I don't really know what to do with it, for fear that it will destroy my high efficiency based on my limited Tech/Qualification levels.

Guess buying tech and factory etc would burn a hole in the pocket he he.

On the loan thing, I guess we all have to abide by the game's rules. Though in every game I have played in, I have witnessed ingenuity beyond comprehension (beyond mine, that is ha ha), and it shows just how capable the mind really is, to come out with such creativity to resolve problems.

On the other hand, if we were to treat this game to mirror the real world as much as possible, then perhaps the tactics that one uses, which may be possible here, may seem illegal in the real world. And if we treat V as a game to stimulate the mind in an upright commercial training, then it may not be so good to resort to questionable tactics.

Just my 2 cents,

Mike

I think player-created banks would be interesting.
