Who is enable to participate Amateur league: players who were registered in February/March 2011. Professional league: all other players. Terms. Contest starts on the 1st of March. Contest ends on the 31st of March 23:59 (GMT). You can publish your business plans in this topic until the end of the contest. Rules Imagine, that you've just started. You can choose any uncle's gift. You need to make a business plan for this imaginary company for 1 month (30 days) ahead. In this plan you need to maximize company's average day net income and 3 main top manager's qualifications (commerce, production, management) after the first month using the current market data (e.g. retail prices, wholesale prices). Example. 1st day. Qualifications: producation 1 commerce 1 ... Cash balance $1m. I've just started. I've got a jewelry factory 100wp tech 6, lapidary 100 wp tech 6 and a store. I'm going to sell produced gold jewelry and brilliants at the wholesale market. My brilliants quality is 3.0, while average price at wholesale market for Q1 is $5k, for Q2 is $10k and $15k for Q3. To make my brilliants more attractive for customers I'll sell them at $13k. Prime cost is $3k. Also I need to pay tax 20%. That's why this factory brings $8k*30pcs=$240k a day...The same for other subdivisions... Investment activity: I've got $1m of free cash. I'm going to buy 1 factory and build 2 new ones. This will cost... 5th day. Qualifications production 4 commerce 4 ... Cash balance $2m. Lapidary, jewelry factory and a store are still giving me a stable net income of $500k a day. Today a new lapidary factory is ready, I need to buy equipment for it. This will cost me ... . Also I'm going to start a new store today as my qualification has grown a little. There is an attractive household goods market in Murcia... Estinated net income of this store is $500k a day... Also I'm going to fulfill some quests to get some spare cash. 10th day 15th day 20th day 25th day 30th day. Qualifications production 10 commerce 11 ... Day net income is $50m a day. There is no need to describe every day in details. Mark the main points only. Approximate size is 1-2 pages A4 (min - half page A4, max - 4 pages A4). Results The quality of every business plan will be appraised by judges using following criterions: - average day net income (1..10 points); - sum of 3 main top manager's qualifications (1..10 points); - realistic of results and used market data (1..20 points); - additional score (some interesting ideas, etc.) (1..10 points). The 1st place winner chooses the sponsors' prize first, the 2nd place winner - 2, the 3rd place winner - 3rd. In case there will be more than 3 sponsors' prizes, the following scheme will be repeated. Now I'm looking for sponsors. The list of sponsors' prizes will be published on the 5..10th of March. In case there will be two very similar business plans the second one won't be considered. P.S. The best business plans will be published in the separate topic and become guides for newbies. a very optimistic result, in pratice it is very difficult to gain max growth It is almost the perfect gains allowed by the system, since office workers limit growth in the first few days  . I actually had a lot of detail about how many employees to hire on which subdivision at what qualification, but the plan was already 7 pages of A4 by March 14. So I took a lot of details out to fit the whole plan into 4 pages of A4.
After I found out about top1/top3 loading a week into Lien and restarted so I could hit Management 10 by the end of CM, I have been maximizing my growth. I find that maximizing profit in Virtonomics matters less than maximizing qualification growth, because you can have 100b cash and can't do anything with it because of qualification limits. |

also, bucking the trend and voting for IceBlast: Suberic: average day net income = 5/10 sum of 3 main top manager's qualifications = 9/10 realistic of results and used market data = 20/20 additional score = 5/10 Total: 39 points Starting with sheeps reselling is only useful for some players with the 'right' time zone. For others, this is not feasible. As the contest is for a business plan which is supposed to help other new players, this strategy is not going to be as useful generally. A lot of Suberic's income is from sheep resale. Personally disagree with 'buying low selling high' strategy in this case, albeit a sound business practice. In this game, with the low Q sheep involved, the main buyers of Suberic's sheep would be other new players. Can't agree with a business plan from one new player that disadvantages other new players purely because of where they live. It's bad enough time zones have such an impact on tenders, don't like to see it encouraged for new players. IceBlast: average day net income = 9/10 sum of 3 main top manager's qualifications = 8/10 realistic of results and used market data = 20/20 additional score = 9.5/10 Total: 46.5 points Have to agree with Vl that using fund is a nice idea, for some reason. Also agree with the minus about having to pay real money later or change specialization for Fund's timber and grain customers. Have been quite concerned about that, and players warned many times to plan for future But Fund is set up to help new players, so a business plan that encourages it's use has my vote. Also, IceBlast's corrections due to initial miscommunication about using points in plan. IceBlast edited plan but left some of the original plan to show his changes. Don't think he should be penalized for that as such. |

VLLord, it sucks that you only got 2 entries don't give up, VL ! you give the game a diff angle of interest with your contests. you can't win them all, but perhaps our newbies need to use and read the forum more to benefit. Kh0i mentioned lack of participation on Mary - that may be true because his FREE, no strings attached money giveaway had decreased participation lately as well. Tenders seem still to be contested, so the players are there somewhere - 'we' just need to get them interested ... says one who hadn't logged in for a while.... |

| ccm_tsang, actually my buyers of sheep have always been black companies and they buy it all at once. I view myself as redistributing the sheep from the people in the right time zones to those who are not The market in its current state gets completely sold out 2-3 hours after the update, and I put my purchases for sale anywhere from 6 to 18 hours after the update. But I completely understand what you are saying as well. In fact, in a few weeks, that business plan won't work anymore, as the number of available Q2 or less sheep has gone from 2k per update to 10k per update in the past month.
VL, thanks for organizing this competition. I will try to write up a second business plan that doesn't involve sheep reselling as a better "guide for newbies". IceBlast, I cannot imagine writing a business plan after only a few days of playing. This game has a very steep learning curve, and I restarted my Lien account twice before I got the hang of it. Kudos. Since there weren't many entries, I also wasn't expecting prizes. If you and your sponsors are feeling generous, my priority list would be: 14, 16, 4, 5, 17, 13, 8, 9, 10, 7, 2 |
