let's do this by examples:
(1) 'Ten-3 days' This is straightforward. 100000 m2, city center, advertise. Take a look at the market volume to know how many units is 10%. on the previous day, supply volume should be a bit higher than 10%. On the next day, check market vol again and get rid of the excess. Profit is NOT important here, make sure you can sell all stock. notice that every individual store enters the contest separately. If competition is severe, one may consider use multiple stores, for instance, two stores selling 10% each(to win tender), one store selling 75% (to put pressure on your opponents). (2) 'sale/City supply -3 days' 2~3 stores.(too many decreases the uniqueness) For 'sale', notice that the market volume is fixed. Although the price affects the sale, monopolizing the market could also be determinant. for 'city supply', advertise goods as much as possible(this could be the key). Also pay attention to market volume. (3)Tender #4 584. Standard of Virtonomics - 3. Prize: 5 + 3 + 1 virt Cote d'Ivoire | Abidjan | 1000 sq.m. Notice that what really counts is the best DAILY ranking among 3 days. The trick is, if you know what your main competitor is selling, open a 100000 store to sell goods from the same category, monopolizing the market and disrupting your opponent's sale. Of course, he still has time to introduce a new retail category on the second day and sell on the last day, so be prepared. Another counter strategy against this trick is to hide what you're going to sell, how? suppose you plan to sell category A goods, now order supply from category A and B. for B, just order 1 unit for each goods. Then go to trading hall and delete all goods from A. So it looks as if you're selling B on the next day. < this method is quite useful in other occasions too, read on> (4) Tender #4 634. Head commodity expert. Prize: 5 virt [France] Southern France | Marseille | Grocery 'On the first accounting day we determine the best store according to the formula of the 1-day Storm tender (the highest number of leadership positions according to the income from sale of goods of a given category). On the second accounting day we determine the best store according to the formula of the 1-day Efficient trade tender (maximum specific earnings with recalculation for one seller). On the third accounting day we determine the best store according to the formula of the 1-day Consumer magic tender (maximum specific earnings with recalculation for one buyer). The first prize winner gets 5 points, the second prize winner - 3 points, the third prize winner - 1 point. The winner is a store to gain the biggest amount of points within 3 days.' For storm, if the size of the store is given, you can open a big store to disrupt your opponent's sale. And, try to get at least 3 points on the first day, otherwise, it would to rather difficult to win. For eff. trade/consumer magic, move store to fashionable area. if store's reputation is too high, move it(change size) a few times more. you might also wanna open a series of different sized stores just to have an idea how many workers to use based on reputation and size. one more important observation (need to confirm) is that although it labels Grocery, it appears this only applies to storm. In other words, you can sell, say, jewelery on the last two days, which gives you a much better chance to win. Again, you should double check this. (5) Tender #4 582. Best store - 3. Prize: 3 virt [Republic of South Africa] Cape Provinces | Port Elizabeth | 1000 sq.m. 'On the first accounting day we determine the best store according to the formula of the 1-day Best Store tender (best level of service among top 10 stores with the highest income). On the second accounting day we determine the best store according to the formula of the 1-day Best Range of Goods tender (the biggest amount of items of goods of the quality higher than average in the city among top 10 stores with the highest income; the restrictions for TM are analogous to the ones of the 1-day tender). On the third accounting day we determine the best store according to the formula of the 1-day Storm! tender (the highest number of leadership positions according to the income from sale of all retail goods among stores of all sizes in an indicated city). The first prize winner gets 5 points, the second prize winner - 3 points, the third prize winner - 1 point. The winner is a store to gain the biggest amount of points within 3 days.' For best range of goods, you probably need TM goods. Don't forget about the quality ( Do you have Q2 sugar? ). To sell goods on the second day (if you wanna keep the goods, just set a high price), you need order supply 1 day before the tender. This may affect the service level for the first day's (need confirmation on this). If it's the case, use the trick mentioned before, delete goods in trade hall after ordering. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Remark 1: For 3-day tender, on which day should what goods be ordered may be confusing. take time to work it through. Remark 2: though it's meaningless selling before the tender, it may help determining the setting (# of employees, price, etc) Remark 3: use innovation for small stores, (not for eff. trade or consumer magic). Also it appears, for small store, number of visitors has a more substantial influence on the sale than service level. Remark 4: goods advertising might be vital Remark 5: market study might be vital (on deciding which category to sell) Remark 6: know your opponents ! Remark 7: For every strategy, there is a counter strategy. For every tactic been used, there are more to be explored. Remark 8: For small companies to win tenders, it's difficult, but not impossible. (I won my first tender one day before i reached level 7.) Big companies make mistakes, in fact, a lot. Remark 9: just for the record, i think there is a lot of room for improvement for the current tender system. I didnot write down everything explicitly and i'm not trying to tell you what to do. So think about it . Remark 10) For small companies, i suggest 'Ten/consumer magic/best store/100m/500m/1000m'. In these tender, big companies have relatively less advantages (except goods quality/advertising eff.) |

| firstly, it's unlikely big companies will inform you about their take over of the market. it's just too time-consuming to do this.
secondly, in current system, a big company can easily monopolize a medium-sized market within two days. imo, this is simply wrong. if walmart open and close its stores every month, it'll be in deep trouble (just think about its return policy). Although tenders are meant to be short term competition, it should not lead to market manipulation. thirdly, i had the impression that many new players stopped playing because of the contests (CM and CD), which are meant to be an encouragement. Just imagine playing for the first month, winning nothing in CM, having no chance at all winning in CD ~ they start this game because they want to participate, not to watch big companies grow bigger. Being forgotten and ignored is a terrible thing. |

| The game is to complicated for most newbies to understand within 30 days, and win CM. occasionally there is one that understands, and wins. | |||

Yes, you're right, I am aware that I'm being naive here... Or who is lucky! It was my case... Sometime you don't have strong participants and you are doing alright and that's enough. I saw the gap when entering in the CD, but eventually it has been a great school for me. One of the main characteristic of the ones who succed is perhaps coming on the forum, read and ask questions. Like you guys I shared my point of view a lot of time and it is even more interesting when you're wrong because there is always someone who can talk about his experience. |

tenders occur in diff (maybe random) cities as decided by admin. large companies, esp during the 3rd phrase of the CP, will be doing the tenders like crazy. contest rules state they just need to win, regardless of league. any store in cities where the tenders occur will be affected adversely. suggestion: - keep an eye on the tenders to know if one or more of your stores will be affected and when - IGNORE the market fluctuation during the days of the tender(s). it will only be 1 - 3 days. there is really no need to adjust your prices to compete. unless your store reputation is huge and your products of very high Q, just order less supplies and weather the storm. at least the larger companies like Ksar and Harlus closes their stores the day the tenders finish so the impact on the city market stops after the next update. |

firstly to make monopoly like you say I should pay money and money - tenders isn't profitable or cheap thing, you need to have billions before make such things to have CHANCE to win virts secondly you and I also were a new players and play/win CM and CD... just thinking why? and why anybody cann't do the same -- first of all they need to learn how to play, read forum, ask questions but not complaining and leave play last winner in CD Storm - Biesas write me some pms with questions - get answers - and hope they help him to win this is good example how to reach something there is releif fund -- to help newbies, but yes, they should read forum see think what to produce and teach how to organize company and keep it in good condition really on Mary and Lien there is no competion in retail for newbies -- there is a lot of small markets with high prices and any production have huge profit I help a lot of newbies by different ways but unfortunately almost everyone of them stopped to play even after winning CM and CD... so I just a bit pessimistic at the moment who want to play - will play, who don't want = won't play and nor prizes nor winning/losing contests don't change this |

Quadriad , your start post - in general, it's not so bad ![]() But there is a one small mistake: If competition is severe, use two stores, 5% each.In tender "Ten" results are associated with concrete store, not with company and in your example we will have two stores with results 5.0 and 5.0 after the first day. |

you're missing the point here. i'm certainly not suggesting that winning tender should be made more expensive. That changes nothing since big companies always (by definition) have more money than small companies. As you said, it costs billions to have a chance to win. Instead, the question is to stabilize the retail market, which currently poses no obstacles for big companies to enter and monopolize the market in 2~3 days.
if they knew, they wouldn't be newbies ~ just ask a new player for his take on retail market
Everyone has different background and strength. Some of them learn quickly and are good at reaching out, some others might be completely new to the idea of business management and shy to ask questions. That should NOT be a reason to exclude them from the game. Of course, as time goes by, eventually there will be some people who decide to stay, but we're losing so many new players and missing a big opportunity here. YES, We could certainly leave everything as it is now, people born, people die, the game will go on...if that's what you have in mind After all, this is a game and i personally would like to see a lot of people participating. You might treat this game seriously, but many others only consider it as an entertainment. This is not a thrive-or-die scenario, new players should be encouraged and embraced, not confused or disheartened. |
